Today, there are still ruins of the ancient Roman temple dating back to 530 BCE, as well as the remnants of an ancient harbor.

Thodorou also serves as a sanctuary for the kri-kri, the endangered wild goat of Crete. With luck and a keen eye, you may catch a glimpse of these agile goats roaming freely in their natural habitat, adding an extra layer of enchantment to your Thodorou island experience.
